Okay so I'm a HUGE animated movie buff and coming this November there is a new Traditionally animated movie called, as I'm sure you've heard of, "The Princess and the Frog" Check out the trailer here: [link] I honestly cannot wait for it to come out as I have been in love with New Orleans for ages and to see it come alive in my favourite animated medium is like TWILIGHT ZONE for me ;D

I've also read a lot about there being controversy and a lot of commotion about the main heroine 'Tiana' being the first black princess. First off, I think that its about time that that happened BUT I don't believe her to be the 'first.' And honestly, I don't think there should be such a huge commotion around the subject. I mean, did this happen when Mulan came out? No. When Atlantis came out and Princess Kida was darked skinned? Nope. Don't reckon so.

Yes, racism between black and white peoples has run deep through history but I believe its about time that the controversy and constant 'battle' to show each other up (whether intentional or unintentional) be put to rest. Especially now that Western society has so-called put 'racism to rest.' Sure, some amazing changes have occurred over the last couple of hundred years but there are still some things to lay to rest. Western society in particular has to think of themselves as a collaboration of different peoples but also realize that they are all part of this world, we are all human so why should there be such narrow minded-ness about the colour of their skins? Its like its a competition for recognition in this world and to be honest I reckon it shouldn't have to be. When the time comes that people can simply be called 'eople' or a person can be called 'a person' and not 'black' or 'white' or any other colour is the day that I think discrimination and division between these two peoples comes to an end.

Please send no flames my way. I'm just voicing an opinion. I may have left a few loose ends for criticism on my part but hey, I'm no journalist. Just, I dunno. Thought it was an interesting subject to ramble on about.
